| Candle Power
|
The measurement of light emitted from a source, compared to the light emitted by a single candle.

| Car/Vehicle Charger
|
An accessory that plugs into a vehicle's cigar/cigarette lighter socket and enables a rechargeable torch battery to be charged. The plug is either 3.5mm or 6.5mm depending on which model torch or spotlight it is designed for.

| Halogen Bulb
|
A high intensity bulb containing a gas (such as chlorine or bromine) that allows the filament to run at a higher temperature without boiling away, thus allowing a brighter, whiter light.

| Head Assembly
|
That part of a torch which houses the bulb, reflector and lens.

| Krypton Bulb
|
Another type of high intensity bulb that contains a noble (or inert) gas, allowing it to emit a whiter, more intense beam of light than conventional bulbs.

| Lamp
|
A device for producing a steady light when connected to a source of electricity.

| Multi-directional Filter
|
A filter that is mounted over the front of the torch on a ball joint, allowing it to be placed over the bulb lens by differing amounts.

| Pop-in Filter
|
A filter that fits into a special mount attached to the front of a torch. The filter is easily changed or removed by simply popping in or out of the mount.

| Quartz Halogen Bulb
|
See also Halogen Bulb above. These bulbs are made from quartz, able to withstand much higher temperatures than normal glass.

| Reflector
|
The concave silvered area covered by the lens that concentrates the light from the bulb into a beam. Do not attempt to wipe the reflector clean as this will scratch the highly polished surface and reduce the efficiency of the beam.
